MFA Enrollment for Microsoft Office 365

Please note the instructions included on this page are for setting up MFA for Office 365 for Work on your mobile device.  If your organization has a policy that prevents you from installing work related applications on your device please contact your supervisor.

Enrolling in Microsoft MFA

There are multiple ways to protect your Microsoft 365 work account from attackers.  This article will provide instructions on setting up Microsoft Authenticator (preferred) or SMS.

Please choose your MFA enrollment type below:

Using Microsoft Authenticator for MFA (Preferred)
  1. Go to: https://aka.ms/mfasetup start your MFA (multi-factor authentication) setup.
  2. Login using your email address and email password (if your office has account sync this will be the same as your network/computer password).
  3. On the "More information required" screen, click   Next  .
  4. Click   Next   to start the enrollment of Microsoft Authenticator (if you have not yet installed Microsoft Authenticator, click here for instructions: Installing Microsoft Authenticator).
  5. Click   Next   and open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device.
  6. Click   Add account   or the   + symbol to add a new account.
  7. Select "Work or school account".
  8. Select "Scan a QR code".
  9. Using your mobile device, scan the QR code displayed on your computer screen.
  10. On your computer screen you will receive a code to verify activation.  Enter that code on your mobile device and click Yes.
  11. Click   Next  .
  12. Your Microsoft Authenticator is now setup and ready for use.  Click   Done  .
Using SMS for MFA
  1. Go to: https://aka.ms/mfasetup start your MFA (multi-factor authentication) setup.
  2. Login using your email address and email password (if your office has account sync this will be the same as your network/computer password).
  3. On the "More information required" screen, click   Next  .
  4. Click the link "I want to setup a different method".
  5. Choose Phone, then click   Confirm  .
  6. Enter your mobile phone number, then click   Next  .
  7. Retrieve the code sent to your phone and enter it on the screen, then click   Next  .
  8. Click   Next  .
  9. Your Mobile device is now setup and ready for use.  Click   Done  .
